Six years ago My friend David Christen put a Canon 70-200 mm 2.8 lens in my hands, a mass of perfectly constructed glass and steel that captures and freezes time flawlessly; no sooner was it in my possession, I found myself immersed in the scenic and majestic beauty of Queen’s Park, which is tucked in the heart of our beloved Toronto.
David explained, shutter speed. ISO, and composition… Words as mysterious to me as the magical time stopping instrument I held before me then.
We captured the ornate and whimsical craftsmanship on portions of historical buildings, who’s stories would now forever be told through my vision of them and the lessons on freeze framing passing cars, will never be lost to memory.
There also were the busy and burrowing squirrels, who’s inquisitive expressions and fleeting movements, perfectly portrayed in every picture the ever changing challenges of life.
Only in looking at those photos today, do I realize how priceless they truly are.
….needless to say I would never see the world the same again.
I bought a small camera and spent my time with it in contemplation of how I would always see the world as I had that day, in doing so I created in that space of my life what I felt was art, and needed to do more.
Naturally with great determination, and through forgiving time, that small camera became a bigger one… Less than three years later I was shooting anything from baby showers to clubs, lounges, Toronto- based events or for that matter any thing that moved or didn’t move!
Not only had my cameras grown and changed but so had I.
It is now, less then chance and far more by fate that I spend my days in the Studios at CA model and Talent Inc. capturing and captivating all who grace our offices….
I am today as I was always to be;
A certified CA approved professional photographer …. for that I thank David not only for his friendship, and mentoring, but also for giving me a place to continue to create and express the skills and talents that he so greatly inspired….
